today we climbed 6km up mount kinabalu. we are staying over night at Laban rata which is the camp about 3200m above sea level. the climb was pretty tough with lots of steps. we got pretty sweaty because of the humidity and the physical exertion. there are 9 people in our group and 2 guides and we are sharing a dorm tonight.
we saw lots of interesting plants on the way up including orchids and pitcher plants. we climbed through the clouds which was pretty wet and then got our first glimpse of the peak about 1.5km away when the clouds cleared a bit. we sat on the balcony after an early dinner and watched the sunset and a bit of lightning in the distance from above the clouds.
