Our first full day in santorini. The first thing we did was rent a quad bike to explore the island. We drove up to the highest point on the island, ilia. Then we kept heading south to akrotiri where we saw the red beach and the ancient settlement from 1650bc that has been preserved by a volcanic eruption. We then went across to the black beaches at perissa, where we had lunch. Then we headed slowly north back through thira and to the north of the island, oia. On the way back to thira we did some wine tasting, we both really enjoy the local wine, vinsanto. For dinner we sat at a restaurant with views of the caldera and watched the sunset.
